About the Author
Edward S. Neukrug is the former Chair of the Department of Educational Leadership and Counseling and currently Professor of Counseling and Human Services at Old Dominion University, Dr. Edward S. Neukrug has taught counselor education and human services for over thirty years. In addition, he has worked as a substance abuse counselor, a counselor at a crisis center, an outpatient therapist at a mental health center, an associate school psychologist, a school counselor, and as a private practice psychologist and licensed professional counselor. Dr. Neukrug has written dozens of articles and chapters in books, has authored eight books, and was the editor of THE SAGE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF THEORY IN COUNSELING AND PSYCHOTHERAPY. Books he has written include: EXPERIENCING THE WORLD OF THE COUNSELOR: A WORKBOOK FOR COUNSELOR EDUCATORS AND STUDENTS (4th Edition); COUNSELING THEORY AND PRACTICE; SKILLS AND TECHNIQUES FOR HUMAN SERVICE PROFESSIONALS; and ESSENTIALS OF TESTING AND ASSESSMENT FOR COUNSELORS, SOCIAL WORKERS, AND PSYCHOLOGISTS (3rd Edition). He serves on the Editorial Board of the national Journal of College Student Development and the Media Editorial Board of the American College Personnel Association. You want to know what lawyers really do, how hard they really work, and what their lives are really like? READ THIS BOOK.
I happened across it while doing research for my next book (addressing the question of whether people should go to law school) and I am going to put it on my blog and suggest that all of my law school admission consulting clients read this. It's a great deal on Kindle (only $9.95) and offers detailed insights into various legal careers. It's not just a list of what lawyers do each day as I feared when I purchased it - it's an in depth conversation with attorneys about what they do and how they feel about what they do. Lawyers surveyed graduated from all levels of US law schools (NYU, Thomas Jefferson, etc.) and even some from overseas. Absolutely read this!

As someone who's considering going to law school, I found this book very interesting and helpful. It's comforting to know that the options after law school can be so varied, and I really liked the fact that the author gave snapshots of these individuals' typical work days. I highly recommend this book to anyone who's considering going to law school or who's in law school and trying to figure out what career path they should take.

This book gives a good opportunity to get to know about the lives of lawyers in different fields. It is impressive and interesting how the book approaches careers of the lawyers. Although I used to work as a paralegal and am not a law student or a lawyer, it's easy and fun to read, and practical as well!

An excellent supplement to the IBC Code

The graphic diagrams are a real help in trying to visualize issues like egress. I refer my architecture school students to this book frequently when they need to get a quick understanding of life safety or accessibility issues related to their designs. This book is a real help for almost any architect whether they are at the beginning of their career or seasoned professionals looking for a refresher.

Architects Code Resource

This reference book is a must have for any architect who needs further clarification on the international building code. The author presents the examples graphically which makes the code easier to interpret. I highly recommend the handbook to junior designers and graduates who have recently entered the architectural and construction industry as well as the seasoned professional since building codes are a dynamic document. Fortunately, I have had the opportunity to work with Steve on several code interpretations in California. Again, I recommend this book to anyone who is preparing drawings for building permit or just wants to educate themselves better about life, safety and welfare issues in construction.

An excellent textbook

For those readers looking for a serious textbook on cosmological inflation, this is it!But of course, they should beware that it is fully technical, and has nothing to do with Andrew Liddle's small book, "An Introduction to Modern Cosmology". This is the real stuff, written by two experts who were instrumental in the development of the "slow-roll inflation" paradigm, and summing up all the latest developments in modern cosmology.
Starting with a small introduction about the hot Big Bang, the authors go on to an in-depth treatment of inflation and its consequences. The simplest model is then exposed and developed into its extensions, such as the Lambda-CDM model, the currently accepted model of inflationary cosmology.
Needless to say, the book offers also a fairly detailed treatment of the CMB and its anisotropies, acoustic oscillations and perturbation theory, and the CMB power spectrum, which are the latest tools in cosmological research.
However, those who are looking for a complete treatment of CMB anisotropies will not find it here.They could turn, for instance, to many articles on arxiv, e.g.the one by Ruth Durrer (astro-ph/0109522)which develops this subject in more detail.
All in all, this book by Liddle and Lyth will probably serve as a textbook on cosmology for the coming ten years.

About the Author
Hans Hess is the senior pastor of Fountain of Life Church in Elizabeth City, NC. He holds a BA in ancient history from the University of Kentucky, an MDiv in practical theology from Regent University, and is a PDD candidate in historical theology. Hans and his wife Jackie, along with their daughters are gifted musicians and enjoy using their gifts together in ministry.

Wow - if you ever wanted to know about crinoids ...

I recently bought a plate of fossil crinoids and wanted to identify them. This book has been helpful but not perfect for the task. What the book did do is allow me to come to a radically deeper understanding of what I was looking at (which is what I really wanted). Great diagrams and photos! Magnificent clear explanation! If you have any interest in these funny little animals buy this book.
