I've Always Loved This Book

I'm from North Carolina, and I've always been interested in the ghosts of my state. (Now I live in Washington, DC, with its own share of fascinating ghost stories.) I used to check this book out of the school library constantly. The people and settings in them seem so real. Anybody interested in a good ghost story will love this.

Aged Like A Good whiskey. I have a signed copy from my childhood. My Father knew Nancy and Bruce Roberts well. They gave him this copy and I purlioned it within hours. They also wrote 'Ghosts of the Carolinas'. Both are wonderful complilations of folk ghost tales from the Brown Mountain Lights to the Devil's Tramping Ground. If you can get your hands on either book do not hesitate. This isn't Steven King. These stories have a personal gravity that makes them seem familiar; if not neccesarily friendly. READ ON

Absolutely Fascinating!!

I found a copy of this book in a hospital x-ray waiting area. I could have spent hours poring over it. The cross-sections include a castle, a space shuttle, an observatory, a subway, a cathedral, and more. We see so little of what is around us and this book offers a hugely expanded view. It's like being used to seeing the tip of the iceberg and suddenly seeing the whole iceberg. Like the previous reviewer, I wondered also why only males were shown using the toilet facilities. However, this is a small complaint and the authors could easily correct it in any future editions. I hope they do.

I didn't have enough time to see all I wanted to see of this book, but I was impressed enough to google the illustrator's name. I'm disappointed that Amazon only offers it used, but I do intend to buy a copy. It is represented as a children's book, but I believe most adults would enjoy it also.

Only TWO PAGES of the ship on the Cover!

If you are looking for a cross section of large ocean liners (such as the TITANIC) do not buy this book. There is a total of two pages dedicated to the ship on the cover. The rest of the book is of modern buildings and machinery. BTW the ship on the front IS NOT THE TITANIC as I discovered when I opened the book.

great book with one complaint

The detail of all the different cross sections of places used or inhabited by people is very informative. Especially seeing details of areas not normally seen. I learned a lot about ocean liners, subway stations, opera houses, the empire state building and other places. It is very educational and informative.

The only complaint I have is that it only shows men going to the bathroom in the cross section of the bathrooms. Subways, airplanes, and ocean liners have many female passengers but are not represented in the toilet. I am curious regarding the double standard. Why cannot a female passenger be represented using the toilet facilities? It does happen in real life.

Bill had never felt this way before, she consumed his every thought and no matter what obstacles she tossed up, he willed himself to overcome them all. What neither of them expected was the level of hostility their parents would show towards their blossoming romance as dire measures were taken that would have permanent consequences.
Inspired by a true story, the novel is set in and around Santa Monica, California, in the early 1960’s. With the backdrop of Hollywood, the music industry and local community college, the story intertwines education, religion, the arts, family contentions, and the potency of an inviolable love. The story is humorous at times and tragic in others as it follows the young couple through the twists and turns of a forbidden romance. Their love carries them against all odds, and it seems for a time they have endured it all, but can their love save them from a final crisis?

Ty Isham's book No Regrets weaves a beautiful love story between two college students during the 1960's who had to triumph over much adversity just to be together. Their problems included cultural differences, family conflict, inheritance, religion and just about every challenge their love could face. You will laugh, cry and not be able to put this book down. You will then, like me, be asking for volume II. You will be left just knowing their has got to be more to this beautiful story.

Well written. If it was based on a true story I thought it very sad they both had such selfish and cruel mothers. I really enjoyed the story but almost want to criticize some of the choices the characters made and then remind myself it was based on a true story. It had many wonderful life experiences that many people face and it was easy to feel the love they had for each other. I do not want to spoil the ending so that is all I want to say.
